When she first read the script and saw that it was created by Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Jodie Comer vied for the role immediately, having been a huge fan of Phoebe's acclaimed Fleabag (2016) series. The pair first met in a hotel after the 2017 BAFTAs during which Waller-Bridge had won "Best Female Performance in a Comedy Programme" for Fleabag (2016).
