This film was so popular in the UK that it was given an extended run which lasted the whole of the summer holidays. This film plus Jaws 2 (1978) and Close Encounters Of The Third Kind (1978) led to a lack of screen availability for other new releases, forcing the distributors of 'Watership Down' (1978) to postpone its planned release from August until September that year when cinema chains would start to request new releases for programming again.
