This movie wasn't Steven Seagal's first choice for his directorial debut. Twentieth Century Fox and Morgan Creek Productions initially offered him the Mafia drama "Man of Honor" as a starring/director/writer vehicle. Fox didn't want to pay over $30 million, so production shut down a few weeks before filming.
