Its profile was raised significantly in 1962, when Sight & Sound's decennial all-time film poll placed it at #1, a position it held in 1972, 1982, 1992 and 2002, before being knocked down to #2 by Alfred Hitchcock's La donna che visse due volte (1958) in the 2012 poll.
