Spider-Man: Un nuovo universo (2018) is Sony Animation's 7th film to become a franchise theatrically, after I Puffi (2011), Piovono polpette (2009), Hotel Transylvania (2012), Angry Birds - Il film (2016) and Peter Rabbit (2018). This does not count Boog & Elliot a caccia di amici (2006) and Surf's Up - I re delle onde (2007) as the sequels to those films were simply direct-to-video releases.
