During the scene when Kirk wakes up in bed with two cat-like alien girls, their tails are not computer graphics. They are actually remote controlled animatronic tails that protrude above the bedding. Chris Pine stated that the tails creeped him out, as they reminded him of spider legs, and he hates spiders.
