When Thawne is going back to his time, he mentions Rip Hunter as the first man to build a time machine. Rip Hunter is a superhero created in 1959 by Jack Miller and Ruben Moreira, a scientific genius capable to build time machines, turning himself in a "time agent" to prevent disasters along the history. Hunter is also the main protagonist of Legends of Tomorrow (2016), a time travel spin-off from both Arrow (2012) and The Flash (2014).
