The similarities to Jaws are numerous. The flags stuck in Jean Jackets mouth are similar to the barrels stuck in the sharks mouth. Also Antlers is clearly a Quint character. His Flying Purple People Eater speech reflects Quints USS Indianapolis monologue. And also the scenes where Antlers is manually rolling his camera are the same as Quint reeling the fishing pole while he's fishing for Jaws.
