Per Paul Thomas Anderson's wishes, the movie was finished entirely photochemically instead of going through a digital intermediate. The blowup for the 70mm prints was also done photochemically, and the digital and home video releases were created by digitally scanning and grading a photochemically-timed interpositive, bypassing any digital intermediate stage.
