The film's success led to William Shatner guest-hosting Il Saturday Night Live (1975) during its release. It was during that appearance (Il Saturday Night Live: William Shatner/Lone Justice (1986)) that Shatner performed the infamous "Star Trek Convention/Get a Life" sketch.
