The Atami castle miniature was 2 meters tall and built outside the studio next to the giant Toho pool in the back lot. There are conflicting reports about the final scene in which Kong and Godzilla fall into the ocean. Hirose recalled that after they fell in the water Nakajima was pinned on top of him with the staff quickly having to rescue the actors before they drowned. What's worse is that they fell out of frame meaning the shot was unusable. This story was also remembered by Koichi Kawakita although Nakajima doesn't remember it and says that it never happened.
