Director Bruno Dumont recalls that when they were shooting the rape scene, "the actors were very proud at the start. They suddenly became quite sheepish. You have the girl standing there, the girl was totally okay with being stripped naked, no problem. So I present it, they discuss etc. But they were the most pissed off. They were boastful, they were embarrassed, to have someone who was up for it. To lead these guys, we push them behind, we push them in, we force, we humiliate them. Suddenly they are humiliated, so they go anyway. At the same time, the scene is kind of a mess anyway. It's turned on the shoulder, it slips. I couldn't shoot in a still shot because they didn't hold. They were scared."
