After the show began fans constantly commented on Lilly's appearance, especially about her hair. It stood out in contrast to other character's hair, as they often seemed to be immaculately styled, in rather sharp contrast to Lilly's. Kathryn Morris said in an interview that this was a deliberate decision on her part, as she saw Lilly as someone who was just too busy to take the time to always be sure her hair was "just right". This was a rare case of an actress who was willing to look less than perfect for the sake of character's identity.
