The 'Shimmy Shimmy Ko Ko Bop" rap was Tom Hanks's idea. According to Tom Hanks in an interview with Jonathan Ross, the rap was something his son had learned at summer camp. Hanks introduced it to the production team, and made up the words. However, the "shimmy shimmy ko ko bop" lyrics and melody are taken from the song with the same name, released in 1959 by Little Anthony and the Imperials.
