In creating the first episodes, Tony Jordan drew inspiration from the long tradition of confidence tricks and heists in Hollywood and television, including A-Team (1983), La stangata (1973) and Rischiose abitudini (1990) (and in a similar vein, the films and TV series of Missione impossibile (1966)). Ocean's Eleven - Fate il vostro gioco (2001) was also an influence.
