On the commentary, director Tom Hooper said that the Shimbleshanks train sequence was one of his favorite parts of the film and revealed that Steven McRae had no singing experience so he spent months learning to sing the part live. In addition, Laurie Davidson, who played Mr. Mistoffelees, had no dance training, so he took daily barre classes for months during rehearsals and filming.
