While a guest on Marc Maron's WTF podcast, Matt Damon knew the movie was going to be a dud when he had about four months left shooting. Damon witnessed the director cave to the film's backers over his vision. Damon's daughter would subsequently go onto tease the actor about the movie: "Whenever she talks about the movie, she calls it 'The Wall.' And I'm like, come on, it's called 'The Great Wall.' And she's like, 'Dad, there's nothing great about that movie.'"
