Keanu Reeves, John Travolta, Rob Lowe, Tom Hanks, Steve Guttenberg, Bill Murray, and Jeff Bridges were considered for the role of Brian Flanagan. Hanks couldn't accept the role due to scheduling conflicts with Big (1988). Murray turned down the role due to scheduling conflicts with S.O.S. fantasmi (1988). Reeves was busy with Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure (1989).
