Ashton Kutcher was in heavy considerations for the role of Bruce Wayne and was reportedly the studio executives' choice for the same. Writer and director Christopher Nolan however, was not enthusiastic about the idea of casting Kutcher in the role, which prompted Warner Bros. studio heads to drop the idea. Kutcher's casting would have led to a controversy similar to the one that sparked the Batman (1989) movie when Michael Keaton, a comic actor, was cast as Batman.
