Maryam d'Abo screentested for the role of Pola Ivanova, but was ultimately rejected, because she was too young for the part. She appeared briefly in Il sole a mezzanotte (1985), where she played the French girlfriend of Mikhail Baryshnikov. She earned a major place in the James Bond universe, when she starred as 007's main love interest in 007 - Zona pericolo (1987).
