In the English-language version, the names of the characters played by Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef are never revealed. They are always referred to by the nicknames given to them by Tuco: "Blondie" and "Angel Eyes". This fit in with United Artists' U.S. "Man With No Name" campaign.
