One of the film's posters is a recreation of the Sonic the Hedgehog 2 (1992) US cover art, except with Tails standing behind Sonic rather than next to him. The way Robotnik's hand rests on the "2" makes it look like he only has four fingers, just like the Robotnik from said cover art. Also, looking closely you can see Knuckles' eyes in the "2", similar to the Sonic the Hedgehog 3 (1994) US cover art.
