Although it never gets credit for this, this show was groundbreaking in several ways. First of all having a household run by two women, sans husbands, in the early 60s was both daring and groundbreaking. Also Viv played a divorcee; a first for a lead character on a TV show. Also Lucy got a job towards the end of the run of the series, working as a secretary for banker Mr. Mooney. There had never been working mother on tv before this point either. Although given Lucy's ditzy and clumsy portrayal this can hardly be called a "feminist show"; it did push the envelope.
