Whist in production, the film was reported to be titled Star Wars: Episode II - Rise of the Empire before its final title of Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones was eventually announced. Rise of the Empire would later be a title used by several other Star Wars projects. The title would also be used to mark events between 1000 BBY and 0 BBY - referred to as the Rise of the Empire era, aka the Prequel era. The Prequel Trilogy and The Clone Wars film and series take place in the twilight of the Rise of the Empire era.
