At the time she appeared in this, Natalie Wood was making the difficult transition from juvenile characters to adult roles, and had only recently followed her mother's career advice, letting her Fox contract expire to seek greater opportunities at Warner Brothers. The fact that Wood is cast here as an adolescent version of the character played as an adult by Virginia Mayo and that Wood's dye job comes nowhere near matching the color of the wig worn by Mayo, makes the casting of the two actresses even more problematic.
