Rick Moranis was originally going to voice a moose in an animated film before this called Blue Moose made by one Disney's biggest rivals Warner Bros. However the film's production was shut down due to the problems making theatrical feature films at Warner Bros. Animation. Luckily one of Blue Moose's animators and this film's co-director Robert Walker got Rick to voice the moose Rutt along with Rick's comedy partner Dave Thomas as the voice for the other moose Tuke.
