In the original script, it was revealed that Tara gave Amber a necklace that originally belonged to Tara's father. In the originally scripted hospital scene, Amber asked Tara if she wanted the necklace back, but Tara told her to keep it for good luck. After Amber left the room, Sam then questioned Tara about it, to which Tara told her that she gave it to Amber voluntarily. Later, when Tara, Sam, and Richie originally leave town, Tara insists on going back to Amber's house to get the necklace. When they arrive at Amber's house, Tara does indeed ask Amber for the necklace back, to which Amber agrees before she and Tara head up to her bedroom to make out (as later revealed by Amber). The final version of the film replaces the necklace with Tara's extra inhaler, which is later revealed to have been stolen by Richie.
