In his disguise as Mr. Brunner, Chiron camouflages his horse legs using a wheelchair and a blanket to cover them up, with no explanation about how horse legs fit on it. In the original book is revealed that the wheelchair has magical powers, allowing that the horse legs turns in human legs to sit down on it.
