For dramatic purposes, the film rearranges the chronology of some events. For example, Brian May is shown bringing the song "We Will Rock You" to Queen in 1980, but the song was released on the "News of the World" (1977) album. Conversely, the "Rock in Rio" festival where Queen headlined is portrayed as happening in the late 1970s, but actually happened in January 1985 (only five months before Live Aid).
