When having dinner, Maurice is scared off after seeing Chip, who is now a tea cup, speak. He later tells Belle the castle is alive. A similar incident happened in Toy Story - Il mondo dei giocattoli (1995), where Sid discovers Woody, Buzz, and the other toys are alive, and tells his sister Hannah what he just saw.
