After Sasha Mitchell (Cody) was fired towards the end of season 5, there were multiple attempts to replace his character's presence in the show, including Jake "Flash" Gordon (Jeff Juday) and Jean-Luc Rieupeyroux (Bronson Pinchot). The only character with staying power in the role was Rich Halke, played by Jason Marsden towards the end of season 5 (who appeared as a differently named friend of J.T.'s in an earlier season). Throughout the 90s, Marsden was a ABC/Disney regular. He appeared as Nelson on Gli amici di papà (1987) and the self-titled character Jason Marsden on Crescere che fatica (1993), two other ABC TGIF series.
