The underlying tune of Alexandre Desplat's main theme for the movie, "The Heroic Weather-Conditions of the Universe", strongly resembles "The Sound of Silence", referencing another film about an elopement, Il laureato (1967), in which the Simon & Garfunkel song was heavily featured.
