Diana's apartment is located in (and was filmed at) the Watergate complex of apartment, office, and hotel buildings in the Foggy Bottom neighborhood of Washington, D.C. The complex lent its name to a notorious political scandal: the Richard Nixon administration's bungled attempts to cover up its involvement in the June 1972 break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters housed in the Watergate office building.
