The season 2 finale introduced the character of Carrick O'Quinn (played by Don Michael Paul). O'Quinn was portrayed as a police commando who accidentally blinded a woman while trying to rescue her, and sought redemption for his mistake. The episode was intended as a backdoor pilot for a spin-off series focusing on O'Quinn, but the idea was discarded.
