Interacting with a fan on Twitter, David Ayer expressed regret about not making the Joker a main villain in the movie. "Yeah it was a big fun silly movie. It could have been a bigger success had I done it a little different. But it did great and made an impression, believe me it's agonizing but yes the Joker should have been the main villain".
