The score from composer Rob Simonsen utilizes material from Elmer Bernstein's score for Ghostbusters (Acchiappafantasmi) (1984). Simonsen approached Peter Bernstein, Elmer's son, to take on the role of score consultant. Peter provided the score from the original movie for Simonsen's use, as well as some guidance for the orchestration of Simonsen's original score.
