Toshirô Mayuzumi's score was released on CD by Intermezzo Media in 2011. The liner notes contain information kindly supplied by Ennio Morricone who clarifies that he wrote and recorded some 15 or 16 minutes of music before being replaced by Mayuzumi. Franco Ferrara, who conducted Morricone's music, was kept on to conduct the replacement score. Rather than waste the music he'd composed, Morricone admits to re-cycling it into three later scores. "The Mountain" scene from The Bible (about 10 minutes of music) was utilized in both Il ritorno di Ringo (1965) and Il segreto del Sahara (1988), whilst "The Golden Door" cue also went into Il segreto del Sahara (1988). Additionally, three shorter cues were worked into the score for Il giardino delle delizie (1967).
