Justin Lin's F9 commentary suggests that he wanted viewers to truly believe the high-powered magnet technology shown throughout the movie is "realistic," despite its continuous inconsistencies, and he actually shot footage showing more detailed controls on Mia's laptop for the magnets in each of the hero's vehicles used in the movie's Tbilisi sequence, but ultimately cut the laptop shots because "it was an overload of intel," saying that simpler is better for a film like this one.
