Sarah and John are both blamed for the death of Doctor Miles Bennett Dyson, the inventor of the neural-net processor that led to the development of Skynet. In "Terminator 2: Judgement Day", Miles Dyson was fatally shot by multiple SWAT team officers and succumbed to his bullet wounds and detonated a bomb that destroyed Cyberdyne headquarters, when he remained behind to allow Sarah, John and the T101 to escape.
