Surprising for the 1950s, there are at least three black actors in On the Waterfront. One man makes a very brief appearance as he is removed from Johnny Friendly's Bar 3.16 into the film. Another man is visible in the crown scene at 1.46.31. Don Blackman, who appears in the opening credits, says his first lines at 19.55 and appears quite a few times in the film.
