1973, the year to which Wolverine travels back through time, is six years prior to Wolverine gaining Adamantium claws and losing his memory in the original timeline, which happened in 1979, just prior to the infamous Three Mile Island incident (as seen in X-Men: le origini - Wolverine (2009)).
