Several references to the disastrous '96 Sugar Bowl game and even the announcers before the first NFL game imply that Falco basically disappeared after that game. When they first meet at his boat, coach McGinty talks about that Sugar Bowl and then later tells Falco that he should've been carrying a clipboard that first year. That they leaned on him too much and he crumbled. This would imply that he was actually drafted and played in the NFL.
