In the series we can see that Pleakley is a faithful follower of Dr. Gladys Okra's talk show who is a reference to Oprah Winfrey. In the episode "Spike" she is the first victim of Spike / 319 an experiment whose thorns possess a poison that makes you 99% stupid and 1% intelligent.
