First of several series in which members of Miguel Ferrer's family work in the medical field. Ferrer and his mother, Rosemary Clooney, both appeared as patients in E.R. - Medici in prima linea (1994), which starred his cousin, George Clooney. Ferrer himself played a medical examiner in Crossing Jordan (2014). His niece, Tessa Ferrer, appeared in Grey's Anatomy (2005) and You're the Worst (2014).
