Never received a theatrical release in the United States, most likely because of issues involving the American distribution of Battle Royale (2000). For nine years after its Japanese premiere, the film was only available in the United States through bootleg and "region-free" international copies. American film distributor Anchor Bay Entertainment eventually picked up the licensing rights to both films and on March 20, 2012, released them on DVD and Blu-ray. Battle Royale II: Requiem (2003) is only available as part of the 4 disc "Complete Collection" in its theatrical cut. The Director's Cut has never officially been released.
