Kodi Smit-McPhee was considered for the role of young James Howlett for this movie, but could not, due to his commitments to The Road (2009). However, he was cast as a young Kurt Wagner (Nightcrawler) in X-Men: Apocalisse (2016) and X-Men: Dark Phoenix (2019).
