Usually a risk-taker, Doug Liman says he played it safe in the moment where Bourne climbs up the side of the Treadstone building. This was originally intended to just be a wide shot with Bourne climbing the wall in the background. Without time to test screen the film and not being completely sure if the audience would see it, Liman decided to include a small cut-in of a closeup on Bourne mid-climb.
