The film makes it appear that Holden was killed by Leon. However, Bryant later tells Deckard that Holden "can breathe okay, as long as nobody unplugs him", implying that he survived, albeit severely wounded. A deleted scene was filmed that confirmed this, where Deckard visits Holden in the hospital, and Holden expresses his fear that Replicants are becoming virtually indistinguishable from humans. In the game Blade Runner: Revelations (2018), it is also confirmed that Holden indeed survived and made a full recovery. By 2023, he was promoted to Captain of the LAPD Blade Runner Unit.
