Although some assume the name of Clint Eastwood's character as "Monco", it is a fact that is not a proper name. Manco in Spanish means "one-armed". Remember that in Per un pugno di dollari (1964), Joe is wounded in his right hand. This is why Manco can be considered to be Joe, and this movie is his second appearance in films.
