Four imported actors were originally wanted by the producers to headline this Australian movie. These were Robert Powell), Joseph Cotten, Samantha Eggar and Susan George. The latter two actresses were not cast in the film due to a block by Australian Actor's Equity despite an appeal to the Australian Arbitration Commission. In the end, three non-Australian actors headlined this picture.
